Elke Thurman has been working at IDEA Consult since 2024. She obtained her Master’s degree in socio-economic sciences from the University of Antwerp in 2023, where she was introduced to the world of policy and socio-economic research. During her Master’s programme, she studied European agricultural policy in depth, explored the possibility of a progressive carbon tax in Flanders and wrote her thesis on gender differences in work preferences and disparities in career opportunities in collaboration with VDAB.

At IDEA, Elke has a dual role in which sustainability is the common thread. On the research side, she is largely involved in policy evaluations in the context of societal transitions. On the advisory side, she supports public and private organisations in their sustainability efforts, from strategy development to implementation.
