Toon Berckmoes has been working as a senior expert at IDEA Consult for 10 years now. Toon has extensive strategic and operational expertise in the areas of arts, culture and heritage, recreation and tourism. Often, there is also a relationship with territorial (nature, heritage, public domain), urban and/or regional development. Toon was previously Managing Director of CultuurNet Vlaanderen (now Publiq) and Head of the Department of Cultural Tourism and Events of Toerisme Vlaanderen. In both organizations, Toon has been actively involved in the development and implementation of policy and marketing strategies in many municipalities, cities and regions, as well as in the development and marketing of various urban projects as well as major events. During this period, Toon was himself general coordinator of high-level urban projects such as Stad aan de Stroom (Antwerp), Antwerp93 (European Capital of Culture), Architectuur als Buur (Ghent) and KunstenFestivaldesArts (Brussels). Toon previously worked as an advisor and project developer for the King Baudouin Foundation and the former BRT, among others.
