The Green Deal: The New Growth Strategy of the European Commission
Shortly before Christmas, the von der Leyen Commission presented their ambitious plan to make Europe the first carbon neutral continent by 2050. This plan includes measures to be taken across all industries and policy areas. The main pillars revolve around employment, bio-diversity and carbon-neutrality. The Green Deal requires a considerable re-allocation of EU-funds that will ultimately result in shifts in regional and local policy priorities, which will also affect foreign trade and redefine the EU’s competitive positioning in several areas. IDEA is already working on Green Deal related projects for industry and is expanding its expertise to become a key reference for the green transition.
