Mutual Learning Exercise on industrial decarbonisation |
![]() |
IDEA Consult is coordinating this project, the aim of which is to provide a platform for participating countries to discuss their specific needs and interests, exchange experiences and knowledge on success factors and lessons learned, and provide advice to policy makers on how to develop or update their industrial technology roadmaps and sector strategies for industrial decarbonisation. In addition, the project will identify best practices and models for mobilising private and public investment in low-carbon technologies. This will help countries to effectively address the challenges of reducing carbon emissions in the industrial sector and move towards a more sustainable future.
Twelve countries are taking part: Austria, Belgium (the Flemish region and the Walloon region), Finland, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey.
The project is based on exchange meetings between countries (and with the European Commission) led by internationally renowned experts (one of whom is part of this consortium) and supported by notes and preliminary reports. The project covers 4 specific themes:
- Overview and analysis of strategies and/or roadmaps for industrial decarbonisation;
- Policy-mix and specific financing instruments;
- Commitment of stakeholders, mainly industry and SMEs;
- Framework conditions favourable to decarbonisation.
