E-learning in Flanders |
![]() |
E-learning offers great potential for making lifelong learning more accessible for working adults and building a stronger learning culture in Flanders. In this exploratory study, which was commissioned by the Department of Work and Social Economy, IDEA Consult assessed the following:
- what are the characteristics of the existing e-learning offering in Flanders,
- what do we already know about the added value and effects of e-learning on learning in general and on adults’ careers,
- how can e-learning be stimulated, among others through the new Flemish training incentives, on the policy level and
- which further growth may still be expected.
The research led to recommendations to stimulate both supply and demand. The starting points for this are that e-learning is merely an instrument to achieve flexibility (rather than a goal in itself) and that quality must be a priority in the further development of e-learning.
