E-learning in Flanders

E-learning in Flanders

InfographicE-learning offers great potential for making lifelong learning more accessible for working adults and building a stronger learning culture in Flanders. In this exploratory study, which was commissioned by the Department of Work and Social Economy, IDEA Consult assessed the following:

  1. what are the characteristics of the existing e-learning offering in Flanders,
  2. what do we already know about the added value and effects of e-learning on learning in general and on adults’ careers,
  3. how can e-learning be stimulated, among others through the new Flemish training incentives, on the policy level and
  4. which further growth may still be expected.

The research led to recommendations to stimulate both supply and demand. The starting points for this are that e-learning is merely an instrument to achieve flexibility (rather than a goal in itself) and that quality must be a priority in the further development of e-learning.
