Brussels diversity instruments examined

The Brussels labour market is characterised by a growing diversity. This presents employers with key challenges that are not always known outside the company walls. Understanding the needs of Brussels employers on these issues is nevertheless crucial to provide appropriate support.

At the request of the Council for non-discrimination and diversity (RNDD), IDEA Consult, in cooperation with SEIN (Hasselt University) is studying the Brussels diversity instruments. Currently there are four tools that private sector employers can use to encourage diversity in the workplace: the diversity charter, the diversity plan, the diversity label and the consolidation plan. In the context of these instruments, support has also been provided to employers through the Actiris diversity consultants.

Within the framework of this evaluation, Idea Consult organises in-depth interviews with all relevant actors of the Brussels diversity policy, an online survey of Brussels employers in the private sector and a stakeholder workshop which results in concrete policy recommendations.
